Cellulose Hydrogel and Its Impact on Mung Bean Growth

Cellulose hydrogels were prepared from commercial cellulose using NaOH/urea and LiCl/DMAc methods. For method, alkali hydrates (OH-(H2O)x), urea (urea(H2O)y), water adsorbed into fiber to break hydrogen bonds between molecules yielding HG_Urea. the Lithium-DMAc complexes, [Li(DMAc)n]+Cl-, seeped fibers substituted by O-H…Cl-[Li(DMAc)n]+ produce transparent gel, HGL. Both freeze-dried show characteristics of vibrational modes nano-sized fibrous SEM images. retention study, there was no significant difference when different amounts HG_Urea being used. Covering mung bean seeds directly helps improve growth roots, leaves stems 410, 28 27%, respectively. HGL in also tested on germination seeds. As compared with HGL, average lengths HGL-water increased 82, 32 14%, respectively
